Dr. Corine Eising serves as a PhD Coordinator and Policy Officer at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Groningen, with a 0.8 fte part-time role. She is affiliated with the Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences (GELIFES) and coordinates the Research School Ecology & Evolution. Her academic background includes a PhD in Biology (2003) from the University of Groningen, following studies at both Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht.
Her research focuses on ornithology, ecology, maternal effects, and avian hormones, particularly investigating how maternal hormone deposition influences offspring development. Key areas include reproductive strategies in birds like the bar-throated Apalis, maternal effects in sociable weavers, and climate change impacts on coastal bird populations.
Recent publications highlight studies on yolk androgen variation, avian melatonin rhythms, and the role of maternal hormones in phenotypic adaptation. Her work bridges evolutionary biology and applied ecology, addressing topics such as brood dynamics and conservation challenges.
While no scientific awards are explicitly listed, her contributions to avian research are notable. She advises PhD students through her coordination roles and collaborates internationally on educational initiatives. She also manages administrative and financial aspects of the Research School and supports the GELIFES directorate.
