Corey LeClerc, PhD, holds the dual roles of Professor and Dean of Engineering at New Mexico Tech. He leads the Catalysis Research Group within the Department of Chemical Engineering, focusing on catalyst synthesis and application for hydrogen production via innovative processes like aqueous phase reforming and dry reforming of methane. His work emphasizes 3D printed ceramic catalyst supports and low-coke catalyst development.
Research Interests include catalytic partial oxidation of biogas, biomass reductive pyrolysis, and plasma-assisted catalyst synthesis. Current projects include DOE-funded work on waste plastics and biomass conversion. Dr. LeClerc actively mentors students in MS/PhD programs in chemical engineering, particularly seeking U.S. citizens for upcoming roles.
Notable contributions span over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2002, with recent emphases on tin/lanthanum-modified Ni/CeO₂ catalysts and oxygen ion-conducting supports. His lab collaborates on stratified catalyst systems for millisecond reactors and investigates anti-coking strategies in dry reforming processes.
Grants and funding include a 2024 DOE award for reductive pyrolysis research. His work bridges fundamental catalysis with applied energy solutions, emphasizing sustainable hydrogen production and advanced material design.
