Constantinos Neochoritis

Dr. Constantinos Neochoritis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Crete, Greece. His research focuses on synthetic organic chemistry with a strong emphasis on Multi-Component Reactions (MCRs) for applications in medicinal chemistry and material science.

Dr. Neochoritis received his BSc in 2004 and MSc in 2006 from the Chemistry Department of Aristotle University of Greece (AUTH), followed by a PhD in Organic Chemistry in 2011 under Professors C. Tsoleridis and I. Stephanidou-Staphanatou. His doctoral research focused on the synthesis of potent bioactive heterocycles.

Research Interests: Dr. Neochoritis' research program centers on the development and application of Multi-Component Reactions (MCRs) for drug discovery and material science. His group employs MCR chemistry to generate molecular diversity, create complex structures efficiently, and develop novel therapeutic agents. Key research areas include the discovery of new MCRs, drug discovery for cancer immunotherapy (particularly targeting PD-1/PD-L1 interactions), and the development of new molecular modalities including macrocycles and molecular glues.

His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on expanding chemical space through innovative synthetic methodologies, with applications in cancer therapeutics, protein-protein interaction inhibitors, and theranostic agents. The research output shows consistent contributions to high-impact journals across organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology.

Dr. Neochoritis has successfully secured funding from multiple sources including the Hellenic Foundation for Research & Innovation (HFRI), ELKE@UoC, and industry partnerships. He co-founded TelesisPharma B.V., a spin-off company focused on pharmaceutical development.

Research Group: The Neochoritis Group consists of multiple MSc students and has successfully mentored numerous undergraduate and graduate students through thesis projects. The laboratory maintains active collaborations with researchers across Europe.
