معرفی
Constantinescu Stefan is a Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology at Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) and Co-Director of the Ludwig Cancer Research Brussels Laboratories. He holds a part-time appointment as a Full Professorial Status Professor of Cancer Signaling at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford. His roles include leadership positions at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and multiple Belgian and European medical academies. He specializes in blood cancer research, focusing on cytokine receptors, epigenetic regulators, and chromatin dynamics in myeloid malignancies.
Education and Training:
- Postdoctoral Fellowships at MIT Whitehead Institute (1995-2000), University of Tennessee (1992-1994), and University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Bucharest, 1990-1992)
- PhD mentorship through UCLouvain's Doctoral School of Genetics and Immunology since 2000
Research Interests: His work explores signaling pathways in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), epigenetic regulators' role in oncogenesis, and chromatin dynamics during leukemogenesis. Key focus areas include CALR mutations in MPNs, thrombopoietin receptor activation mechanisms, and therapeutic targets for myeloid cancers.
Awards and Honors:
- 2021 Alexandre and Gaston Tytgat Prize for Cancer Research
- 2017 Welbio Investigator Advanced Grant
- 2016 Honorary Foreign Member of the Romanian Academy
Advising and Labs: Supervises DPhil students in Oxford and mentors graduate programs at UCLouvain. Leads the Constantinescu Group at Ludwig Oxford, focusing on signaling, epigenetics, and blood cancer biology.
