معرفی
Conrad Goodwin is a Royal Society University Research Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at The University of Manchester, leading the Goodwin Group. His research focuses on f-block elements (lanthanides and actinides), exploring non-aqueous chemistry to stabilize reactive oxidation states and bonding motifs. He holds a PhD from The University of Manchester (2017) and completed postdoctoral work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (2018–2021). His awards include the Dalton Emerging Researcher Award (2018) and the Royal Society Fellowship (2021).
Education:
- PhD in Synthesis and Properties of Early Metal Bulky Silylamide Complexes, The University of Manchester (2013–2017)
- MChem in Chemistry, The University of Manchester (2009–2013)
Research Interests:
Conrad's work centers on synthesizing and characterizing novel f-element complexes, particularly those involving unusual oxidation states and coordination geometries. Key areas include:
- Actinide and lanthanide coordination chemistry
- Non-aqueous synthetic methods
- Stabilization of reactive intermediates
- Electronic structure analysis via spectroscopic techniques
Publications and Trends:
Recent articles explore uranium thiolate complexes (2025), δ-bonding in rare earth arenes (2024), and plutonium-carbene reactivity (2024). These studies emphasize structural characterization and electronic effects, leveraging advanced crystallography and computational methods.
Awards and Grants:
- Royal Society University Research Fellowship (2021–2026)
- J. Robert Oppenheimer Fellowship (2018)
- EPSRC Doctoral Prize (2017)
Labs and Teams:
He leads the Goodwin Group at Manchester, collaborating internationally on transuranium science and ligand development for f-element systems.
