Conrad Brunstrom is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English at Maynooth University. He holds a PhD in English from the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on eighteenth-century British literature, with particular emphasis on literary satire, gender studies, and cultural history. Key areas of expertise include William Cowper, Thomas Sheridan, and the interplay between literature and societal norms.
His academic contributions include two monographs: Thomas Sheridan's Career and Influence: An Actor in Earnest (2011) and William Cowper: Religion, Satire, Society (2003). He has also authored articles on figures such as Matthew Prior, Samuel Johnson, and Philip Larkin, exploring themes like queer readings in literature and the role of satire.
In 2015, Brunstrom was elected to the Executive Committee of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, reflecting his leadership in the field.
