Dr. Anna Fitzer is a Senior Lecturer in 18th-Century Literature and Programme Director for English at the University of Hull, affiliated with the School of Humanities. She holds a PhD and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research focuses on eighteenth and nineteenth-century literature, women’s writing, literary biography, and coastal communities’ narratives. She has received British Academy funding for her work.
Teaching includes modules such as 'Literature of the Sea' and 'Secrets, Scandals and Rebellions.' She supervises PhD students exploring themes like female stereotypes in 18th-century fiction and coastal narratives. Her edited volumes include Frances Sheridan’s Eugenia and Adelaide and Alicia LeFanu’s Strathallan. Awards include fellowship recognition and grant support.
