Dr. Conor Barker is an Associate Professor in Psychology at Mount Saint Vincent University, cross-appointed with School Psychology. With over 15 years of experience in inclusive education roles, his research focuses on rural school psychology, inclusive education in minority-language settings, behavioral interventions, and knowledge translation in educational psychology. He holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Regina, a M.Ed. in School and Counselling Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan, and is a Registered Psychologist in Nova Scotia.
Barker's recent research examines knowledge translation strategies for neuroscience education, mental health benefits of outdoor education for teachers, and social determinants of health in housing instability. His work emphasizes equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in educational contexts. He maintains active public scholarship through The Conversation Canada and hosts The Rural and Northern Psychologist podcast.
He teaches courses in child development, assessment skills, counseling techniques, and the role of school psychologists. Dr. Barker accepts thesis students in undergraduate psychology, graduate education, school psychology, and child & youth studies programs.
