Connie Rotunda is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Theatre Arts at SUNY New Paltz. She specializes in movement training, somatic practices, and actor pedagogy. Her work integrates the Feldenkrais Method® with Michael Chekhov Technique. Prior to her role at SUNY New Paltz, she taught at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts and has extensive experience with independent experimental theatre companies like Wallis Knot and The Anthropologists.
Education: BA from Mesa College, MFA from FSU/Asolo Conservatory, and completion of the East Coast Feldenkrais® Professional Training Program. Certifications include Guild-Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner (GCFP) and Margolis Method Professor Certification.
Research focuses on synergizing Feldenkrais Method with Michael Chekhov Technique. Notable performances include roles in The Door Was Open and Daughter of the Waves. Awards include the MICHA Inaugural Scholar Award (2016) and Dr. Nuala McGann Drescher Leave (2016).
Teaching interests span somatic practices, self-image exploration, and movement for actors. She maintains a private Feldenkrais practice in New Paltz and contributes to professional organizations including the Feldenkrais Guild of North America (FGNA) and the Michael Chekhov Association (MICHA).
