Connie Cirkony is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Monash University, affiliated with the School of Curriculum Teaching & Inclusive Education. She also serves as an Adjunct Senior Researcher at the University of Tasmania. Her expertise spans science and STEM curriculum design, environmental education, online learning, and evidence-informed policy. Her career combines biological science background with over two decades of international education work across Canada, Japan, and Australia.
Research interests focus on integrating First Nations knowledge systems into science education, sustainability education, and improving educational equity through policy innovation. She led the Q Project (2019-2024), a national initiative analyzing educators’ use of research evidence. Key roles include board director of the Australasian Science Education Research Association and advisory positions with UN education committees.
Recent work emphasizes frameworks merging Indigenous knowledge with Western scientific methods, as seen in her 2023 Canadian Journal publication. Professional learning design and educator evidence literacy are central themes in her recent articles (2024). She actively contributes to conferences and policy discussions, balancing qualitative/quantitative methods to engage diverse education stakeholders.
