Massachusetts Institute of Technologyمعرفی
Collin M. Stultz is the Nina T. and Robert H. Rubin Professor in Medical Engineering and Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he serves as Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Co-Director of the Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology (HST), and Associate Director of the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES). He is also a faculty member in the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, a member of the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), an associate member of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), and a practicing cardiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Stultz earned his BA magna cum laude in Mathematics and Philosophy from Harvard University in 1988, followed by a PhD in Biophysics and an MD magna cum laude from Harvard University and Harvard Medical School respectively in 1997. After completing his internship, residency, and fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, he joined the MIT faculty in 2004.
His research spans multiple scales from molecular to clinical applications, focusing on developing machine learning tools to guide clinical decision-making. His laboratory investigates computational biophysics, protein structure and dynamics, disease modeling (particularly for atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and rheumatoid arthritis), and AI applications in healthcare. His work bridges computational approaches with clinical medicine, reflecting his dual expertise as both a computer scientist and practicing cardiologist.
Dr. Stultz's recent publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on applying deep learning to cardiovascular risk assessment, developing non-invasive diagnostic tools to replace procedures like catheterization, and creating educational programs to prepare future generations for AI in healthcare. His research consistently focuses on translating computational methods into practical clinical applications that improve patient outcomes.
- National Science Foundation CAREER Award
- Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Award in the Biomedical Sciences
- Irving M. London teaching award
- Jonathan Allen Junior Faculty Award
- Faculty Research Innovation Fellowships
- Phi Beta Kappa visiting scholar
As co-director of HST, Dr. Stultz leads one of the world's premier physician-scientist training programs, leveraging his unique background as both an MIT professor and practicing cardiologist. His Computational Cardiovascular Research Group develops machine learning approaches that enable healthcare providers to gain insight into patient-specific physiology using routinely collected clinical data. Dr. Stultz is also deeply involved in international collaborations, having presented to world leaders including the President of South Korea, and continues to bridge the gap between engineering innovation and clinical medicine through his dual appointments at MIT and Massachusetts General Hospital.
