Collin Chivers is a Technical Tutor at Falmouth University, teaching the BA(Hons) Technical Theatre Arts course. He holds a master’s level qualification in video editing from Soho Editors and graduated with distinction from BBC Wood Norton in Camera Operation & TV Technology. His career spans over three decades in technical theatre, sound engineering, and broadcast production.
Previously, he served as Deputy Head of Sound and Broadcast at the Royal Opera House London, managing systems for international performances and training staff in Oman. He has worked with renowned institutions like BBC TV, EMI, and Decca, supporting live broadcasts and recordings for global events. His freelance roles include leading sound engineering for the Falmouth University Online Orchestra and major artists such as Francis Rossi and Jason Donovan.
Chivers has extensive experience in venue redevelopments, including the Royal Opera House’s 1997–99 rebuild, and has consulted on HD broadcast systems for the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai and Oman TV. His technical expertise spans theatre, opera, ballet, music theatre, and pop performances.
