Colleen MacKinnon (she/her/hers) is the Acting Head of User Services & Engagement at Brock University Library, holding the rank of Librarian III. She holds an MLIS from Western University (2009) and a BA from McMaster University (2006). Her work focuses on information literacy, mentorship in academic libraries, and innovative educational technologies. MacKinnon actively contributes to professional communities through committee roles, including chairing the Library Website Content Management Community of Practice and co-chairing the Library Research Help Community of Practice. She also participates in broader initiatives like the OCUL Resource Sharing Community of Practice and Brock’s Information Technology & Infrastructure Committee.
Her research explores critical thinking in the context of fake news, informal mentorship dynamics in libraries, and reimagining library resources for modern students. MacKinnon’s publications reflect her commitment to advancing library services and educational strategies in higher education.
