Colleen Deyell Hood, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Recreation & Leisure Studies at Brock University. She has over 30 years of experience as a faculty member and practitioner in therapeutic recreation. Her research focuses on the role of leisure in mental health recovery, trauma-informed practices, and strengths-based interventions. She holds dual roles as a Registered Psychotherapist and academic, contributing to both clinical practice and university teaching. Her work emphasizes evidence-based approaches to therapeutic recreation for individuals with mental health challenges.
Dr. Hood’s research interests include therapeutic recreation’s role in living well with illness, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness-based interventions.
