Colin Merrony

Colin Merrony is a Teaching Fellow at the School of History, Philosophy and Digital Humanities, University of Sheffield. He serves as Course Director for the MA in Heritage and Archaeology, with additional roles as Careers Liaison Officer, Fieldwork Officer, and Part-Time and Mature Students Officer.

His research focuses on Medieval Premonstratensian Abbeys, landscape change in southern Yorkshire, and field techniques for historic landscapes. He also explores archaeology's role in skills education and social cohesion, alongside the geochemistry of New Zealand greenstone.

Recent publications highlight his work in non-invasive archaeological methods, historic garden analysis, and prehistoric burial sites. Collaborative projects span South Yorkshire, Outer Hebrides, and Derbyshire, emphasizing community engagement and heritage preservation.
