Prof Colin Kidd is a Professor in the School of History at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses on Enlightenment studies, Scottish history, political thought, and Calvinist studies. He is affiliated with the Institute of Legal and Constitutional Research and the Institute of Intellectual History.
His research interests include the intellectual history of Scotland, post-medieval political thought, and the intersections of religion and secularism. Recent work explores anti-Calvinist interpretations of Scottish history, the legacy of the Enlightenment, and the role of political advisors in historical contexts.
