Colin Fenwick is an Associate Professor and Principal Fellow at the Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne. He holds dual qualifications in Arts and Law from the University of Melbourne and a Law degree from the University of Virginia. Currently, he serves as a Labour Law Specialist at the International Labour Office in Geneva, Switzerland, focusing on labour law reforms in developing economies and the role of labour regulation in economic development.
His academic and professional career spans roles as Director of the Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law (2004–2008), joint Editor of the Australian Journal of Labour Law (2006–2008), and Associate Editor (2000–2005). He also worked part-time with Minter Ellison Lawyers in Melbourne from 2004 to 2008.
Research interests include comparative and international labour law, the legal frameworks governing prisoner work, retirement payments for company directors, and labour law's role in fostering innovation and economic development. He has contributed to high-profile cases, such as representing the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions in the ILO inquiry into Myanmar’s forced labour practices.
Colin’s expertise bridges academia, policy, and practice, with significant engagement in international labour standards and developmental law.
