Dr. Colin Cortie is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Graduate School of Medicine, University of Wollongong. His primary roles include managing the OptimasGP study (funded by the Medical Research Future Fund) to improve antimicrobial stewardship in general practice and investigating rural health workforce disparities. He holds a PhD from the University of Wollongong and a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Trial Research from the University of Sydney.
His research focuses on antimicrobial resistance, rural medical workforce distribution, and behavioral health interventions in correctional settings. Notable projects include co-designing interventions to reduce antibiotic overuse and analyzing trends in E. coli resistance. He also leads the Medical Education & Workforce Research Theme and sits on the Early Career Academic Network and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee.
Dr. Cortie's work spans clinical trials, policy translation, and longitudinal health data analysis. His studies on gestational diabetes metabolism and prisoner aggression measurement further underscore his interdisciplinary approach. He actively contributes to medical education through supervising MD research projects and curriculum development initiatives.
