معرفی
Dr Clive McKimmie is an Associate Professor at the School of Medicine, University of Leeds, leading the Virus Host Interaction Team. He serves as Chair of the Biological Safety Committee and co-founded the British Society of Immunology's Leukocyte Migration Group. His research focuses on host immune responses to mosquito-borne viruses including Zika, dengue, and chikungunya, with emphasis on skin-level interactions during mosquito transmission.
Educational background:
- BSc (Hons) in Molecular Cell Biology (First Class), University of Nottingham
- PhD in Neuroimmunology, University of Edinburgh (2005, Wellcome Trust-funded)
Research Interests:
Dr McKimmie investigates inflammatory pathways activated in skin during mosquito biting and their role in systemic infection progression. His work examines how environmental variables modulate these responses using interdisciplinary approaches combining virology, bioinformatics, in vivo models, and clinical expertise. This research aims to develop broad-spectrum therapeutic strategies against emerging arboviral threats.
Scientific Awards:
- Fellowship (2012)
Advising and Grants:
He lectures in immunology and infectious diseases while supervising students on inflammation, infection, skin biology, virus infection, and chemokines. His 2012 fellowship enabled critical virology-immunology integration, resulting in high-impact publications and ongoing research funding.
Labs and Teams:
He leads the Virus Host Interaction Team at Leeds and co-founded the International Virtual Seminars on Arbovirus Biology (2020), maintaining active global collaboration during and beyond the pandemic.
