Dr. Cleveland Barnett is an Associate Professor of Biomechanics in the Department of Sport Science at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), where he also serves as Director of Doctoral Programmes in the School of Science and Technology. With expertise in biomechanics, motor control, and postural adaptations, his research focuses on gait analysis, balance mechanisms, and prosthetic interventions for lower limb amputees.
- Education: PhD from University of Hull, undergraduate studies at Liverpool John Moores University
Dr. Barnett's research explores the biomechanics of movement, particularly in lower limb amputation rehabilitation and virtual reality-based perceptual-cognitive training. He collaborates with institutions including University of Southampton, Jönköping University, and Hull University, while working with partners like Blatchford Ltd and NHS Trusts to translate findings into clinical applications.
As an active academic leader, he contributes to the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) Scientific Committee and reviews for journals such as Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
