Cleo Verkuijl

Cleo Verkuijl is a Senior Scientist at the Stockholm Environment Institute, US, with a focus on legal and political dimensions of international climate policy, just dietary transitions, and animal health welfare. She has held teaching roles as an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University in Bologna and a Tutor at the University of Edinburgh.

Her research integrates One Health and just transition frameworks to address food systems sustainability, climate governance, and biodiversity protection. Cleo earned an LL.M. in Global Environment and Climate Law from the University of Edinburgh and has collaborated with UNEP and Climate Action Network International during pivotal policy negotiations.

Her teaching experience spans environmental law and policy, and her work emphasizes interdisciplinary solutions for aligning global development with climate justice and planetary health.
