Cleo O'Callaghan Yeoman is a PhD researcher at the University of Stirling, affiliated with the Literature and Languages Division. Funded by the Scottish Graduate School of Arts and Humanities (SGSAH) and Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), her research explores the intersection of novel reading and societal 'improvement' in Scotland between 1800-1837.
- Supervised by Professor Katie Halsey (University of Stirling), Dr Gerard McKeever (University of Edinburgh), and Professor Matthew Sangster (University of Glasgow)
- Focuses on works by Scottish authors including Walter Scott, Mary Brunton, and James Hogg
Her academic contributions include publications in The Eighteenth Century: Theory and Interpretation and The Burney Journal. She serves as:
- Newsletter Editor for the Romance, Revolution and Reform journal
- Postgraduate Representative for the British Association for Romantic Studies (BARS)
Research Themes: Examines how literary consumption shaped perceptions of personal and societal progress during Scotland's post-Enlightenment era, analyzing gendered reception and authorial intentions in canonical and marginalized Scottish fiction.
