Claudia Ovrutcki is an academic at the Pädagogische Hochschule Wien (PH Wien), currently serving as Deputy Director of the Institut Urban Diversity Education (I:UDE). She holds a Magister degree in Pedagogy and Special Education from the University of Vienna and has been actively involved in teacher education since 1997. Her work focuses on inclusive education, subject didactics (particularly social studies), and Lernwerkstattarbeit (learning workshop methodology). She teaches courses on inclusive pedagogy, special education planning, and practical school experiences for primary education students.
Her professional journey includes roles as a classroom teacher in integrative settings, leadership in school development teams, and coordination of the Vienna Middle School initiative. She has contributed to projects like the 4-year competence passport for secondary level I and developed methods for inclusive didactics. Her research emphasizes bridging university teaching with practical school experiences through collaborative Lernwerkstatt projects.
Ovrutcki has published extensively on inclusive education, teacher training, and innovative pedagogical approaches. She has presented at national conferences like the Grazer Grundschulkongress and eduLEAD, focusing on themes like participatory learning and inclusive curriculum design. Her current research explores how learning workshops can address diversity dimensions in education.
She leads the Lernend – Forschend research project (2024–2027) examining diversity in educational contexts and co-developed the Vienna experiences diversity project teaching urban education. Her work integrates practical school collaboration with academic research to advance inclusive educational practices.
