Claudia Miller is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Syracuse University, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Geometry, and Homological Algebra, with notable contributions to differential operators, DG algebra resolutions, and canonical resolutions. She has authored works such as 24 Hours of Local Cohomology and co-edited the proceedings of the 2019 Women in Commutative Algebra Workshop.
Miller holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1997), a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) from the University of Cambridge (1993), and earlier degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics. Her teaching spans advanced courses like Rings and Modules, Homological Algebra, and Algebraic Geometry.
She has received the 2025 Excellence in Graduate Education Award and leads significant service roles, including advising the AWM graduate student chapter, organizing national workshops, and serving on the University Senate. Miller’s grants include funding from the Simons Foundation and NSF for research on differential operators and homological approaches.
