Claudia Mary Bruno is a Postdoctoral Researcher at UNSW Sydney, affiliated with the School of Population Health and the Medicines Intelligence (MedIntel) Research Program. Her research focuses on pharmacoepidemiology, using population-based data to evaluate medicine safety and quality use in priority populations such as pregnant women and children. She holds a PhD in Public Health from UNSW Sydney (2020-2023) and a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Medical Science from UNSW Sydney (2014-2018).
Dr. Bruno’s key research areas include maternal and neonatal health, mental health (especially ADHD and psychotropic medications), and the application of big data in health policy. Her work emphasizes real-world evidence generation to inform clinical guidelines and public health strategies.
Her recent studies include multinational cohort analyses on antipsychotic use in pregnancy and ADHD medication trends in Australia. She has published 19 peer-reviewed articles, including work on the Medicines Intelligence Data Platform and the impact of prescribing policies on PPIs and ADHD treatments.
Dr. Bruno has received awards such as the Gro Harlem Brundtland Visiting Scholarship (2024) and the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (2020–2024). She collaborates internationally, including with the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, and contributes to projects like the POPP Program on prescription opioids in the perinatal period.
