Professor Sallie Pearson is a leading pharmacoepidemiologist and Professor of Health Systems at the School of Population Health, UNSW Sydney. She heads the Medicines Intelligence Research Program and leads the NHMRC Medicines Intelligence Centre of Research Excellence (MI-CRE), a national collaboration advancing real-world evidence for medicines policy. Her research focuses on population-based studies using routine health data to assess medicine safety, benefits, and policy impact.
She holds a PhD and is a Fellow of the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology. Her work spans health policy, health services research, and cancer epidemiology. She chairs multiple national committees, including the Drug Utilisation Sub-Committee of the PBAC and the NSW Bureau of Health Information Board.
Her recent studies address health equity in system reforms, opioid prescribing trends, antihypertensive use, and diabetes pharmacotherapy. Over 150 peer-reviewed articles highlight her expertise in pharmacoepidemiology, population health, and policy analysis.
