Claudia Groh

Claudia Groh serves as Senior Academic Councillor at the University of Würzburg's Biocenter within the Department of Zoology II, leading research in the Rössler lab. Her work bridges neuroscience and entomology through investigations of neural plasticity in social insects.

Her research centers on structural synaptic plasticity in insect brains, utilizing immunocytochemistry and serial 3D electron microscopy to analyze microcircuits in honeybee mushroom bodies. Key projects examine age-related neural changes in bumblebees, sensory experience effects on synaptic organization, and expansion microscopy applications for high-resolution neuroanatomy. This work reveals fundamental mechanisms of how social insects adapt neural circuitry to environmental demands.
