Claude Hauser

Claude Hauser is an Ordinary Professor in the Department of Contemporary History at the University of Fribourg's Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences. Working in a 50% job-sharing arrangement, he maintains an active research and teaching profile while directing several significant research initiatives. His academic career at the University of Fribourg began with an appointment as Associate Professor in 2003, followed by promotion to Ordinary Professor in 2009.

Hauser's research focuses on cultural history, international cultural relations, the history of intellectuals, environmental history, Francophonie studies, and sports history. His work demonstrates a strong transnational perspective with particular emphasis on Swiss-Quebec relations, Cold War international relations, and the cultural dimensions of mountain regions. His research projects have been consistently funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and other academic institutions.
