Clarys David is a Professor at the University of Tours, affiliated with the CeRCA (Center for Research on Cognition and Learning) laboratory. His research focuses on memory disorders in normal aging, Alzheimer's disease, and psychopathologies such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He specializes in episodic memory, the relationship between memory and consciousness (including autonoetic and noetic consciousness), implicit/explicit memory distinctions, and metamemory.
His work investigates cognitive factors (processing speed, executive functions), psycho-affective elements (emotions, personality), and environmental influences (stereotype threat) causing memory impairments, alongside interventions like cognitive stimulation, physical activity, and mindfulness. He teaches general cognitive psychology, psychogerontology, neuropsychology, psychopathology, and methodology/statistics at bachelor's and master's levels in psychology.

He has supervised numerous doctoral students, including Tiphanie Gonnord, Mélanie VOYER, Sarah THIERREE, Sana DRIDI, and others, with research themes spanning memory biases in PTSD, neural correlates of drug effects on memory, self-esteem in social anxiety, and cognitive stimulation programs for aging populations.
