Dr. Clare Morrison is a Lecturer in the School of Environment and Science at Griffith University, specializing in conservation biology and sustainable resource management. She holds affiliations with the Centre for Planetary Health and Food Security and the Environmental Futures Research Institute. Her research focuses on terrestrial ecology, threatened species management, and stakeholder engagement in conservation, with a geographic emphasis on Australia and the Pacific region.
Dr. Morrison earned her PhD from Griffith University (1997-2001) and a BEnvSc (Hons) from the University of Wollongong (1993-1996). Her work integrates transdisciplinary approaches, combining traditional ecological knowledge with modern conservation strategies. Key research areas include amphibian conservation, access and benefit-sharing frameworks for genetic resources, and community-driven environmental policy.
Her recent articles highlight interdisciplinary efforts to address biodiversity threats, such as firefighting chemical impacts and seagrass metal distribution. She has received awards for teaching excellence (2024) and engagement initiatives (2022). As a supervisor, she guides HDR and Master’s students in conservation biology and environmental studies.
Dr. Morrison has secured funding for projects on fire-fighting chemical effects on frogs, Fijian biodiversity conservation, and sustainable land acquisition strategies.
