Dr Clare Morgan serves as Dean of Degrees and Ordinary Fellow at the University of Oxford, overseeing the Master of Studies in Creative Writing (MSt) at the Department for Continuing Education. Her academic affiliations include Kellogg College and roles such as Chair of the Literature Bursaries Panel for the Arts Council of Wales and Fellow of the Boston Consulting Group’s Strategy Institute.
Dr Morgan holds a DPhil and MPhil from Oxford, an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia, and a BA from the Open University. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). Her research bridges creative writing with interdisciplinary fields like literature and business strategy, environmental humanities, and modernist studies.
Her publications include the novel *A Book for All and None* (2011) and the academic work *What Poetry Brings to Business* (2010). She leads the ESRC-funded ‘Living with Rivers’ project on creative writing and environmental issues, and has collaborated internationally with institutions like the Kuwait government and Henley Management College.
Teaching focuses on British literature from the 19th century onward and advanced creative writing. She pioneered Oxford’s first creative writing degree program and established the Kellogg College Centre for Creative Writing, hosting renowned authors such as Andrew Motion and Julian Barnes.
Professional engagements include external examining roles for universities, advisory board memberships, and international lectures on topics like ‘Poetry and Corporate Responsibility’ and ‘Virginia Woolf and Wales.’
