University of the Highlands and Islandsمعرفی
Clare Louise Johnson is an Observational Physical Oceanographer at SAMS UHI. Her primary research focuses on large-scale circulation and water masses in the subpolar North Atlantic, integrating physical and chemical oceanography. She uses mooring and hydrographic data from projects like OSNAP and ATLAS. Recently, she has analyzed fluxes of physical/chemical parameters between Iceland and Scotland and piloted SAMS gliders. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and marine ecosystems.
Education: PhD in Physical Oceanography (2012, awarded by OU/Aberdeen).
Research Interests:
- North Atlantic circulation patterns
- Biogeochemical fluxes
- Moored instrumentation deployment
- Climate-ocean interactions
Peer Review: Reviewed for journals including Journal of Marine Systems, Geophysical Research Letters, and Ocean Science. Active in conferences and workshops, presenting on topics like AMOC pathways and nitrate transport.
Labs/Teams: Involved in the SAMS glider fleet and collaborations with international research groups on oceanographic projects.
