Clare Fisher is a Researcher and Research Assistant in Content Development and Public Outreach at the School of English, University of St Andrews. She holds a Master of Arts in Art History and Modern History from the University of St Andrews (2015) and a Master of Studies in the History of Art and Visual Culture from the University of Oxford (2017).
Her research focuses on monuments, sculpture, and war commemoration, particularly in the context of the United States since the Civil War. She explores themes such as multi-site monumentality, public art, and the intersection of art and historical memory. Her work includes case studies of Barnett Newman’s sculptures and analyses of Civil War memorials.
Clare has presented on topics like digital approaches to Civil War monuments, the global dimensions of Confederate commemoration, and the role of monuments in rethinking commemorative futures. She is a member of the DECR Project Board at the Association for Art History.
Her publications include peer-reviewed articles and reviews on sculpture,纪念碑理论, and digital heritage. She has also contributed to web-based projects documenting Civil War monuments.
