Clare Corbould is Associate Professor and Research Head at Deakin University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her scholarship examines African American history, slavery legacies, and transpacific cultural connections, with publications analyzing Harlem Renaissance photography and Australian memorialization of slavery.
- Education: PhD from University of Sydney (2005)
Current collaborative projects include a study of African American revolutionary memory (The New Press, 2026) and analysis of elderly enslaved people's interviews. She teaches African American history courses and mentors doctoral candidates researching political governance and war representation.
Awards include the Victorian Premier's Literary Award for her book 'Becoming African Americans' and recognition for teaching excellence.
