Clara de Massol is a Lecturer in Memory Studies at King’s College London’s Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries within the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Her work bridges memory studies and environmental humanities, with a focus on postcolonial and posthumanist critiques of Anthropocene narratives.
Her research interrogates how cultural and artistic practices memorialize environmental crises, including climate change and species extinction, through interdisciplinary methodologies. She has authored the 2024 monograph Remembering the Anthropocene: Memorials Beyond the Human and peer-reviewed articles analyzing climate change memorials, extinction rituals, and eco-art interventions.
Scientific awards include:
- Memory Studies Association’s Excellent Paper Award (2019)
Clara participates in the King’s Environmental Humanities Network and has organized events such as the 2024 book launch for Remembering the Anthropocene and the 2023 panel Engaging with Extinctions: Past, Present & Future.
