Clara Frances Bradbury Rance is a Senior Lecturer in Gender and Sexuality Studies at King's College London, affiliated with the Department of Liberal Arts. She holds a PhD in Screen Studies from the University of Manchester and has taught across UK universities in film, media, and cultural studies. Her research focuses on queer and feminist theories, particularly in cinema and digital media. She authored the monograph Lesbian Cinema after Queer Theory (2019), analyzing contemporary LGBTQ+ representation. Current projects explore queer citation practices in moving image media and algorithmic shaping of queer taste via platforms like Netflix.
Education: BA in Film Studies (University of Exeter, 2010), MRes in Sexuality and Gender Studies (University of Exeter, 2011), PhD in Screen Studies (University of Manchester, 2016).
Research interests include queer cinema, feminist pedagogies, and intersectional digital media. She serves on editorial boards for MAI: Feminism and Visual Culture and the Screening Sex book series, and co-chairs the Queer and Trans Caucus of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies.
