Clara Baumann

Clara Baumann is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of East Asian Studies (IN-EAST) and the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Duisburg-Essen. Her research focuses on international migration, societal transformations under globalization, and comparative cultural spaces in East Asia and Latin America.

• BA in Cultural Economics from the University of Passau (2012–2016)
• MA in Regional Studies China from the University of Cologne (2016–2018)
• PhD candidate since 2019 at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE), affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies and the University of Duisburg-Essen

Her current work investigates interdependent development dynamics between East Asia and Latin America, particularly focusing on investment and dependency patterns in Colombia.
