Claire Roberts serves as a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the School of Nursing within the Faculty of Education Health & Wellbeing at the University of Wolverhampton. With over 20 years of clinical experience in critical care environments, she brings substantial practical knowledge to her academic position, having worked in specialized ICU settings including Burns & Trauma units caring for military patients with front-line injuries, as well as General/Liver ICU settings.
Her educational background includes an MSc in Medical Education, which supports her passion for teaching and curriculum development in healthcare settings. Roberts is an active member of the Intensive Care Society, maintaining professional connections within her field.
Dr. Roberts' research focuses on three interconnected areas: Adult Critical Care, Deceased Organ Donation, and End of Life Care. Her work bridges clinical practice with policy implementation, particularly regarding the Deemed Consent Act 2020 for organ and tissue donation in England. She has developed expertise in translating complex legislation into practical healthcare applications through staff education and training programs.
Her recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on organ donation legislation implementation, staff training evaluation, and cross-jurisdictional policy coordination between England and Jersey. These works appear in the British Journal of Nursing and reflect her commitment to improving organ donation practices through evidence-based approaches and educational innovation.
Roberts has worked on significant projects implementing education and training for Specialist Nurses regarding the Deemed Consent Act 2020, for which she was proud to contribute for 18 months.
