Kathleen Karauda serves as a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University's School of Midwifery and Community Health within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Social Care. A NMC-registered nurse and non-medical prescriber, she brings over 20 years of specialized clinical experience in cardiothoracic, general, and transplant intensive care units.
Her academic qualifications include:
- MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice from Anglia Ruskin University
- Diploma in Leadership and Management from The City and Guilds of London Institute
- Diploma in Adult Nursing from Medical College, Poland
Research focuses on End of Life Care, Organ Donation, and Multidisciplinary Team Communication in ICU settings, driven by her frontline experience in critical care environments. Her work addresses systemic challenges in end-of-life protocols and organ donation processes within intensive care units, with clinical audits presented at national conferences.
As a research supervisor, she mentors students in nursing practice while maintaining active clinical engagement. Her institutional contributions include membership on Basildon Hospital's Organ Donation Committee and End of Life Strategy Group, where she developed evidence-based clinical protocols.
