Claire Kershaw is a Senior Lecturer in Animal Health, Behaviour and Welfare at Harper Adams University. She holds a BSc (hons) in Animal Science and a PhD in Reproductive Biology from the Royal Veterinary College, London, followed by a research fellowship at The University of Sydney, Australia. Her role includes strategic leadership in staff development and fostering collaborative academic environments.
Research Focus: Dr. Kershaw specializes in advancing assisted reproductive technologies for livestock sustainability and welfare. Key interests include gamete processing effects on fertility, livestock fertility optimization through health/nutrition/breeding, and gamete cryopreservation techniques. She also investigates spermatozoa-cervix interactions to enhance reproductive outcomes.
Teaching Expertise: Leads modules on Integrated Health Management and Advances in Animal Production Science. Also teaches Animal Biology, Animal Health, and Principles of Livestock Management. Engages students in One Health concepts and career development skills.
Leadership & Affiliations: Active in team leadership, strategic planning, and organizational management. Holds Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and membership in the Society of Reproduction and Fertility. Contributes to the Centre for Evidence-Based Agriculture (CEBA) and the Beef and Sheep Research Group.
