Claire Hautot is a Part-Time Lecturer of Religious Studies at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Louisiana State University (LSU). She is a doctoral candidate in Anthropology and Sociology of Religion at the University of Chicago Divinity School (expected graduation Spring 2025).
Education:
- B.A. in Religious Studies, Rhodes College (2014)
- M.A. in Anthropology & Women’s and Gender Studies, Brandeis University (2016)
Research Interests: Claire’s work focuses on religion in the U.S., the anthropology of the American South, civil religion, neo-confederacy, white nationalism, and public memory. She explores how historical narratives intersect with contemporary social and political dynamics, particularly in Southern U.S. contexts.
