Claire Godard-Sebillotte

Claire Godard-Sebillotte, MD, PhD is a Junior Scientist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), Montreal General Hospital site, where she is affiliated with both the Brain Repair and Integrative Neuroscience (BRaIN) Program and the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation. She holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill University.

Dr. Godard-Sebillotte's research program focuses on health service research to improve care trajectories of older adults in situations of vulnerability, with particular expertise in suboptimal care trajectories of vulnerable older adults, especially persons with dementia. Her work emphasizes avoidable hospital use related to gaps in care, and she specializes in health administrative database analysis and cutting-edge causal inference methods for evaluating non-randomized interventions. She employs an equity lens to understand how social determinants of health impact dementia care, with the goal of developing recommendations to improve care for all persons with dementia.

Her recent publications reveal consistent focus on dementia care pathways, hospitalization prevention, health service interventions, and the impact of social determinants on healthcare utilization. Her work spans population-based studies, systematic reviews, and policy analyses, with increasing attention to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable older adults.
