Claire Froggatt serves as Senior Lecturer and Professional Lead in Podiatry at the University of Sunderland. She joined the institution to develop the new podiatry apprenticeship program, bringing extensive experience from both clinical practice and education sectors.
Her career began after completing a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry in 2006, with initial work at Newcastle PCT followed by over eight years at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. She transitioned to education in 2015 as Professional Lead for Podiatry at New College Durham, where she pioneered innovative teaching methods including state-of-the-art headset cameras for remote clinical placements. Subsequent roles included Curriculum Management and NHS Practice Placement Facilitation before joining the University of Sunderland.
Her research interests focus on anatomy, research methodologies, and socio-economic healthcare issues. She emphasizes developing the next generation of podiatry leaders through lifelong learning principles and has created specialized learning opportunities that bridge clinical practice with academic instruction.
Based at City Campus in the Pasteur building, she maintains active teaching responsibilities with particular expertise across the full spectrum of podiatry education.
