Claire Fitzpatrick is a Lecturer at the School of Arts and Humanities, Edith Cowan University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from New Zealand (2014). Her research focuses on political resilience, feminist theory, media studies, and the intersection of social media with democracy and gender politics.
Her work examines topics such as democratic responses to crises (e.g., the Christchurch mosque shootings), the role of empathy in feminist discourses, and the socio-political impacts of social media platforms. Recent publications include analyses of Jacinda Ardern’s political motherhood and post-terror societal cohesion.
Dr. Fitzpatrick leads the grant-funded project Bridging the gap between young people and politics (2025–2026), exploring strategies to enhance youth engagement in deliberative democracy. She is based at the Mount Lawley campus, Room ML6.6217.
