Claire Edwards-Evans

Claire Edwards-Evans is a Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences at Bath Spa University, where she has been employed part-time since August 2012. She also teaches social sciences, politics, and education at another institution.

Her research focuses on the sociology of power, disciplinarity, governance, and the impact of neoliberal policies on higher education. She integrates Hannah Arendt’s political ideas with Michel Foucault’s theories, examining social domination and resistance. Other interests include the sociology of sport, friendship, and the works of George Orwell and W.H. Auden.

Recent outputs include commissioned reports on domestic violence courts (2019), educational outcomes (2020), and critical analyses of political theory (1999–2015). She coordinates the Power/Resistance module and supervises undergraduate and PhD students.

Claire contributes to educational technology projects, including virtual learning environment (VLE) authorship and consultancy for The Open University (2023–2024). She has conducted research on topics like urban ethnography in disaster recovery and the integration of criminology in digital learning.
