Dr Claire Ancient is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Winchester's Department of Digital Technologies within the Faculty of Business and Digital Technologies. She leads undergraduate programmes in Software Engineering and Cyber Security with Law, and previously managed Degree Apprenticeship programmes. Her work focuses on inclusive technology design, disaster risk management, and education innovation.
She holds a PhD from the University of Portsmouth (2016) investigating technology for dementia care, and is pursuing a Master's in Learning and Teaching while working towards Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. Her research combines Human-Computer Interaction with humanitarian applications, including developing mobile apps for disaster preparedness in Small Island Developing States through the CommonSensing project.
