Cindy de Bot

Cindy de Bot serves as an Associate Professor of Prevention within Nursing Care at Avans University of Applied Sciences' Centre of Expertise Health, Care and Welfare. She concurrently holds a Nursing lecturer position at the Academy for Welfare, Education and Health and contributes to the Equal Opportunities for Healthy Choices and End-of-Life Care research groups.

Her educational trajectory includes a Nursing degree from Fontys University of Applied Sciences Eindhoven, Health Education and Promotion studies at Maastricht University, and a 2012 PhD from ErasmusMC focusing on allergic complaints in children. Clinical experience spans academic hospitals, home care, and elderly care settings prior to joining Avans in 2014.

De Bot champions a positive health paradigm that prioritizes well-being and resilience over disease-centric models. Her research integrates interprofessional collaboration across healthcare, education, and community practice through initiatives like the Ruwaard neighborhood health project, dementia-friendly sports programs, and digital health tools (GirlsApp, Fitycal). Key thematic areas include neighborhood-based integrated care, palliative nursing standardization, and promoting physical/mental movement in higher education.

As co-supervisor for two PhD candidates, she advances nursing research within social domain programs. Her institutional influence extends through the Zorgacademie Midden-Brabant network, which connects vocational education (MBO), higher professional education (HBO), and healthcare institutions to strengthen practice-education alignment.
