Judith Weijman

Judith Weijman serves as a Lecturer and Teacher-Researcher at the Healthcare Academy of Avans University of Applied Sciences, affiliated with the Equal Opportunities for Healthy Choices research group since 2011. She concurrently conducted PhD research at Utrecht University's Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development starting in December 2014.

Her educational background includes:

• Physiotherapy degree from West Brabant University of Applied Sciences in Breda
• Specialization in geriatric physiotherapy and clinical health sciences at Utrecht University

Her research centers on promoting healthy aging among third-generation seniors (65+) through health technology. She investigates how digital solutions can encourage healthy behaviors, with emphasis on fall prevention in nursing homes and implementation of care innovations in chronic facilities. Her work prioritizes understanding diverse senior needs to design user-centered technologies that enhance independence and quality of life by translating behavioral requirements into practical applications.

As a core member of the Equal Opportunities for Healthy Choices lectorate, she develops equitable health technology frameworks focused on real-world implementation for aging populations.
