معرفی
Cindy Arvidson is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Genetics, & Immunology at Michigan State University, affiliated with the Genetics & Genome Sciences Program and Cell & Molecular Biology Program. She holds a B.A. in Biology (University of La Verne, 1983) and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (UCLA, 1990), with postdoctoral training at Oregon Health Science University. Her research focuses on understanding how Neisseria gonorrhoeae adapts during host transmission, particularly interactions with vaginal epithelial cells and microbiota. Key projects include studying bacterial gene expression changes upon epithelial contact and probiotic lactobacilli's inhibitory effects on gonococcal infections. Her work aims to identify therapeutic targets for STI prevention.
Selected publications span microbiology, medical education, and healthcare policy. She collaborates on studies like lactobacillus-derived enolase structure and gonococcal PilA genetics. No awards listed, but her contributions include advancing understanding of host-pathogen dynamics and vaginal microbiota roles.
