C.-Y. Peter Chiu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati, with a secondary appointment in Communication Sciences and Disorders. He holds a B.Sc. and M.A. from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience from Harvard University. His research focuses on neurocognitive mechanisms underlying decision-making, behavioral economics, consumer behavior, and social cognition using fMRI and behavioral methods.
Dr. Chiu has led or co-investigated multiple grants, including studies on neural plasticity in speech recognition (NIDCD), cognitive training post-TBI (Ohio EMS), and driving behavior risk assessment (Ohio Department of Public Safety). He has extensive experience in neuroimaging studies of TBI effects in adolescents and internationally adopted children, examining attention, memory, and social competence.
His teaching portfolio includes courses on cognitive neuropsychology, memory systems, and research methods in cognition. He actively reviews for journals like Cerebral Cortex, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Developmental Neuropsychology. His lab's work bridges cognitive neuroscience with applied domains such as consumer behavior and traffic safety.
